SUMMER PICNICS:
Our mid-week summer picnics continue this Wednesday. Set up
is at 5:30 p.m. We eat at 6:00. Meat and beverages are
provided. Bring a side dish or dessert to share. This is a
great opportunity to invite friends, co-workers, neighbors
and relatives to an informal time of eating and sharing with
your church family.
RETREAT FOLLOW-UP – ‘Deeper’ Discussion Groups follow
the Wednesday summer picnics as a follow-up to the recent
"Going Deeper With God" retreat. Everyone is invited to
attend even if you were not at the retreat or don’t come for
the picnic. The discussion and prayer groups will start at
7:15pm. We are continuing to discuss questions from the
retreat material. Suggestions for discussion questions for
later weeks may be submitted on Connection Cards or given to
an Elder. Please see insert for this Wednesday’s questions.
SUMMER FOOD DRIVE: Area food banks are currently very
much in need of food. So the Deacons are sponsoring another
food drive again this summer at GCC. Please bring a bag or
two of non-perishable food items to the church any Sunday
morning or Wed evening picnic through 11 August and one of
the Deacons will see that it is delivered to an area food
bank throughout the summer. Some food banks will take
produce. If you have extra in your garden that you would
like to share please contact Patti Wagner and she will see
that it gets delivered.
SANCTUARY FLOWERS: During these summer months, the
congregation is invited to share flowers from their gardens
to beautify the Sanctuary on Sunday mornings. Please sign up
on the flower chart located in the Fellowship Hall next to
the kitchen door. If you would like a note in the bulletin
signifying a special celebration or memorial, let Michelle
know by the previous Tuesday. Questions? see Hilary Cutts.
WORK PROJECTS: The trustees have established a form,
which may be used to request authorization to pursue a
project, which would be funded, from the capital or
maintenance funds. It requires a brief description of the
project, approximate cost, completion schedule, and the
party who would accomplish the work. This form is on the
clipboard hanging on the end of the mailboxes in the
fellowship hall. It may also be used to alert the trustees
to a situation on the property that needs Trustee
attention/action.
COMMUNITY HEALTH SCREENING on Thursday, July 29, 2010
here at G.C.C. from 8:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. If you are
interesting in a Health Evaluation please call
1-800-679-5192 and provide source code ISC-5603.
Appointments are necessary and there is a cost depending on
which screening you would like.
SCRIPTURE SAYS: The fear of the Lord is the beginning
of wisdom; All who follow His precepts have good
understanding. To Him belongs eternal praise. -
